In our fast-paced lives, we often overlook a fundamental truth: what we focus on expands. Our thoughts shape our reality, influencing our experiences, emotions, and even the outcomes we manifest.
Recently, I had the privilege of spending seven days at a transformative retreat with my mentor and fellow coaches. It was a time of deep reflection, growth, and nurturing my body, soul, and mind. I was blessed with a beautiful ocean-view room, and every night, I fell asleep peacefully—until one night when I made a seemingly small decision that led to a profound realization.
A Shift in Perspective
For most of my stay, I slept on the same side of the bed. Each night, I had restful, uninterrupted sleep. But one night, curiosity struck me. I thought, Why not switch things up? Why not sleep on the other side of the bed?

The moment I did, everything changed. That night, I had one of the most unsettling dreams—so vivid and disturbing that I woke up at 3 a.m., something that rarely happens to me. I sat there, confused, trying to make sense of it all. Usually, I wake up feeling rested and refreshed. But this time, my sleep had been disrupted, and I could recall every detail of my nightmare.
As I sat in the stillness of the night, an “aha” moment struck me. I had the power to change my reality. Instead of dwelling on the unsettling dream and wondering why it happened, I realized I had a choice. I could shift back to the other side of the bed—the side where I had always slept peacefully.
And so, I did.
The result? I slept for the next two hours in absolute peace. I woke up at 6 a.m., feeling grounded, rested, and empowered—knowing that I had reclaimed control over my experience.
The Power of Choice

This simple shift was a powerful metaphor for life. So often, we find ourselves stuck in discomfort, fear, or frustration, wondering Why is this happening to me? Instead, the real question should be:
“What can I do right now to change my situation?”
Our reality is a reflection of our focus. Had I stayed on the “nightmare side” of the bed, I would have continued feeling uneasy, drained, and questioning my experience. But by shifting to the “peaceful side,” I took control, reinforcing the truth that our mindset creates our outcomes.
The universe is abundant, always providing opportunities for peace, growth, and success. But if we focus on negativity, obstacles, or self-doubt, we amplify those experiences. When we learn to silence our inner critic, reframe our thoughts, and take empowered action, we can shift any situation in our favor.

Before anything manifests in our lives, it starts with a thought. A simple thought has the power to shape our trajectory.
